Isaac's First Music Lesson

Our friends Jamie and Larry, both amazing musicians, graciously brought their instruments over to share with Isaac. He was taken with them both - first, wanting to augment Jamie's flute with his kazoo, surely a sign of great musical creativity. Second, wanting to help Larry with the slide on his trombone, essentially making it a duet. Witness our most musical child.

The many faces of Isaac

Holiday photos to come, but in the meantime feel free to make up your own captions for these pics...

And so it begins...

Isaac's Uncle Joel and Aunt Ronda spoil him. See the photo below for proof. Also, note that faraway look in Isaac's eye. It's as if he can see the open road ahead and feel the wind whipping through his ever-increasing hair already. Such a boy.

Play Time

In Isaac's mind, every item in the house is fair-game. Spatulas make their way into the bath tub, my mascara now resides in his toy bin, and a roll of wrapping paper is his personal push toy. His latest trick is to make the most of the curtains...
Peek - a -

Boo!

Then he likes to give me this look that seems to say, "Dear God, are we really spending our day playing peek-a-boo?"

Busy, Busy Boy

Isaac seems to be in constant motion these days. His latest fetish is walking on his tip-toes and then trying to stand on one foot. Needless to say, we have a lot of blurry pictures of late, so here is one of him in the bath. It is one of the few places we can get him to sit still.

New Trick

Rest assured that in the Cox/Kahn household, we are focused on teaching Isaac all the essential life skills...

Isaac's Favorite Word

Recently, Isaac has taken to asserting himself regularly and repeatedly. We know we should work on getting him to say yes, but we are too busy entertaining ourselves by getting him to say no. We may be creating a monster.

Grandma Jennifer

On Saturday, Isaac's Grandma Jennifer, Ryan's mom, died from pneumonia-related complications. No woman wanted to be a grandma more than Jennifer - she actually squealed like a little girl when we told her we were having a baby. She loved spending time with Isaac and he enjoyed making her laugh. His time with her was too short and we will make sure that she remains a part of his life through pictures and memories.

Early Turkey Day

Isaac had the honor of dining with his pal Luke today at Luke's Thanksgiving school lunch.
Isaac loved the peas and freeze-dried mashed potatoes.

He was ready to join in with the big kids and happily stomped through the cafeteria.

All that fun ended with a snooze on the ride home. (If you are wondering what is stuffed in his mouth, it is Ms. Hippo, his bedtime buddy.)

Isaac "Drawing"

Isaac had the time of his life hanging with the big kids last night. Next to chasing them around the house, he loved trying to "draw" with them.

Already a true Oregonian

Isaac is game to head outside no matter the weather. Here he is entertaining us again by showing his tongue. We have yet to tire of this trick.

Isaac's first fat lip - it has changed colors throughout the day and now is about the color of his shirt below.

Halloween

Here are a few pics from the weekend.
Have to say the pumpkin patch was a bit of let down, or maybe I was just grumpy.

So serious.

Isaac was a skeleton, mainly because the costume doubled as PJs - genius.

Yes, Ry let Isaac walk in the middle of the street.

Farmer Ike

Thanks to friends who have their own petting zoo, Isaac had the pleasure of meeting some animals up close and personal last weekend.

In awe of the miniature horses

"Let me at 'em!"

"Helping"on the farm

Look at that face!

Sweet donkey

A happy little farmer.

Spying on Ike

After ransacking his room, Isaac decided to do a little reading on his own.

Morning Walk

Isaac is a dedicated walker now. Here he is enjoying the fall weather this morning. Note that the scrapes on his nose are from face-planting on a recent walk. Who knew walking could be so dangerous.
